We always have a pajama day at school right before the Christmas Break, so I got Taryn and Teagan to pose with me for a picture before school. Taryn and I had on our matching Frozen pajamas.
Tessa happened to be at one of Lundy's events and she and Taryn had on the same t-shirt. It was from Tessa's 5K fundraiser from last year, but it was cute that they were matching. Tessa auditioned for All-Region Band and found out that she had made 8th chair, which was 1st chair in the second band. We were so proud of her. Only one other Franklin drummer placed higher than her. The 8th best percussionist in the region! It was so exciting!
Tessa found out her All-Region results while we were at Aubrey's dance recital. While waiting for it to start, we took some pictures in the audience. Ashleigh, Taryn's friend, also came with us.
The dance recital was their end of semester recital that they do for all of the Hornedo dance classes. The dance team performs multiple routines while each elective dance class performs one number. The Vortex team did a fun jazz/broadway number that was one of my favorites. It had a latin flare and I loved watching Aubrey dance that one because she gets so into it.
They also did a hip hop number that was a crowd favorite. Aubrey's bangs were also very helpful when picking her out on stage. It was definitely easier to find her that way. I love how much she loves to dance.
They all came out at the end of the show for the curtain call. I took a lot of pictures, but this was my favorite. I also zoomed in on the team picture to see Aubrey. She gets along with most of the girls and made some really good friends on the dance team this year.

Here is the 22-23 Hornedo Vortex dance team. They had a great performance. They held the recital for two nights, so we ended up going both nights.
We took a few pictures after the second night and their final dances of the semester. Here's one of Aubrey by herself and one of Aubrey with her friend, Janelle.
The girls and I made it to both nights of performances, so I got a picture of the four girls together. I also was pleasantly surprised that she let me take a picture with her as well. My beautiful dancer.
The girls were invited to participate in a flash mob dance for a quince. Our friends from church, the Aldaz family, has a niece, Sy, who celebrated her quince in December. Roxanne and Sergio Aldaz organized the flash mob as a surprise and invited our girls and the Anderson girls to prepare a dance to Earth, Wind, and Fire's September song. The girls got together multiple times to learn the dance choreography and to practice so they'd be ready at the quince for the big reveal. It was a total surprise for Sy.
The girls did an awesome job. We had fun at the quince, and when they made the announcement and started the music, the girls just hopped up there and did the dance routine. Sy was shocked, but loved it. She was crying and laughing so hard. It was such a fun night. The girls had fun dancing the night away and I grabbed a couple pictures of them as they ran around with friends.
Aubrey's dance studio, For the Love of Dance, had a tiny recital at the end of their semester too. Each class had a showcase where parents could come and watch a number they had been working on. Aubrey's ballet class all did a ballet number dressed as reindeer. Aubrey is one of the oldest girls in the class since she started ballet at a much older age, but she loves being the "older sister" to all the little girls in her class. Here's a picture of her with one of her classmates whose older brother, Kale, is on Aubrey's school dance team. And here's a picture of her entire ballet class.
Aubrey's favorite studio dance class is probably her jazz class. She really enjoys this class and this type of dance. The girls are closer to her in age and she just has a lot of fun. They did a number to the 12 Days of Christmas and it was really cute. Here's a picture of Aubrey with one of her classmates, Haileigh; and also a picture of the entire jazz class.
Some of Aubrey's closer friends are in the jazz class with her. Here she is with Allison and then Audrey Pearce. Their mom is the studio owner and Aubrey is good friends with them already from church, and she loves having a class with them. Allison is a year older than Aubrey in school and Audrey is a year younger than Aubrey in school, but they're all really good friends still.
The girls were each given parts based on the 12 days of Christmas, so each time their day was sung, they had to repeat the dance move for that day. It was really cute.
Taryn's orchestra performed a Christmas concert and they did a great job! Taryn has really enjoyed playing the bass and she had fun showing off what she had learned. I liked being able to sit on the side because we get to be pretty close to her. Luckily she was on the end of the row of basses so we could see her really well.
Aubrey had a band Christmas concert the same night as Taryn's concert. Luckily the elementary has their concerts early, so we were able to rush quickly from Lundy to Franklin for the next concert. It would have even been easier if they had performed next door at Hornedo, but their gym was unavailable, so they had their concert at Franklin. Aubrey and the Honor band did a great job on their concert and they sounded great.
The very next night, Hornedo and Franklin had a Christmas concert together. Tessa and their band performed some numbers and then Aubrey and the Hornedo band played a number and then they played some songs together. I always love when they have performances or concerts together and I can see multiple kids perform at the same time.
We took some pictures after the concert and I was able to get this one of both girls with me and Taryn who were there to support them.
Aubrey had fun meeting all of Tessa's friends and getting to talk to the high schoolers. I took this quick picture of the two girls together and then Aubrey wanted a picture with Gisele too.
Gisele and Tessa are still inseparable and they still had to have their traditional picture of Gisele holding Tessa - silly girls. They have a little too much fun at their concerts being the only two girls in the percussion section.
The high school band members each wrote a card and note to a member of the Hornedo band in their own section, so Tessa made sure to make the card for Taylor, a percussionist in Aubrey's band. And Aubrey got a card from Natalia, the flute section leader from Tessa's band. I took a picture of each of them together too because I thought it was such a cute idea. December is always so busy, but I love that there are so many concerts and performances so I can see the girls doing what they love.
