Christmas Break 2011

Finally, the rest of 2011 is on the blog! I wanted to have it finished before the end of January, so I can at least attempt to stay up to date with our family activities. Looking through pictures, I realized we did quite a few things over the Christmas Break, so here's a summary of our final weeks of 2011.

I talked Tyler into taking some family pictures now that we had Taryn and no pictures of all 6 of us. I also wanted to do a family card, so the pictures were a necessity. We spent about an hour and came out with some really cute shots. Here are my favorites:
I did all the girls' hair the same: "Barbie" hair as we call it found on a website of girl's hairstyles.
Here are all the girls. I had this one framed for Tyler to take with him while he does his jobs away from home.
Our favorite family picture.
Instead of Christmas Eve pajamas, Taryn got a Christmas outfit. What this picture doesn't show is the Rudolph reindeer on her behind. So cute!
Abby and Tessa participated in our ward Christmas party program. They were supposed to dress up as angels or shepherds. Luckily, Abby's halloween costume consisted of a lot of white fabric, so we recycled and reused. Tessa still gets shy in front of lots of people, but she clung on to Abby and stayed on the stage for the whole program. We were so proud! They did a great job.
We spent one evening at the Fantasy of Lights which consists of dozens of Christmas displays and lights on the University campus. I got Aubrey to pause long enough for a picture in front of the Peter Pan display telling her Tinkerbell would be in her picture. (She's in the basket-looking part on the main post.)
My favorite display that I remember from when I was a kid is the Bubble Robot. Here are the girls chasing after the bubbles, which you can't really see in the picture, but it sure was fun to watch.
On Christmas Eve, we did a family gift exchange with dollar store gifts. It was silly, but fun. The whoopie cushion was a big hit as well as the different candies that were included. And yes, that's a plunger that Matt's holding, which was Tyler's contribution. Awesome!
Christmas morning with the girls in their Christmas Eve jammies and waiting to open their Santa gifts. Aubrey was apparently not all the way awake yet.
Tessa's santa gift was this Barbie dreamhouse, which was what she asked for. She was good about sharing it with her sisters. Aubrey got her own camera (that she also shares) and Abby got a pink tablet, which she considered good enough since she had asked Santa for an iPad.
Here are the girls waiting to open presents. Everyone was very excited about all their gifts and it was an awesome Christmas spent with family.
2011 ended with happy family memories and with an air of excitement as we awaited what the new year would bring. So far it has brought some interesting job opportunities for Tyler which includes temporary jobs in El Paso and College Station, Texas. The girls and I are staying put for Abby to finish the school year; and it looks like by May we will all be together again at a new permanent job in El Paso. The upcoming months will hopefully go by fast as we prepare to sell our old house and get ready to embark on a new adventure in a new area, but we are so excited. We have loved being so close to family and will definitely miss it, but having a permanent job and a place to settle will be oh so nice. So here's to a great new year of 2012!

December, Part 2-Abby's 18th Birthday & Christmas

Our ward at church had their annual Christmas party in mid-December. The youth were asked to do some musical numbers. All of the youth sang ...
